Below is an extensive gear list for the Georgian Bay Storm Gathering. Not all of it is mandatory but is merely a suggested list. Please contact us if you have specific questions about any of this gear.
Required Cold Weather Clothing Drysuit (Please contact White Squall if you require a rental) Neoprene hood and wool toque Pogies, neo gloves or neo mitts Neoprene booties Synthetic/wool clothing - 3 complete changes layered & thick thermal protection Rainsuit Paddling jacket Dry clothing for evening social Extra shoes for evening social Sun Hat & Sunglasses (on a tether)
Gear Watertight boat with deck rigging All coast guard requirements (pump, throw bag, etc) Paddling Helmet (ABSOLUTLY MANDATORY!) Paddle float or sponsons or both Flashlight with spare bulb/batteries Nose plugs/earplugs as required Pens/pencils, notebook, ruler, orienteering compass, deck-mounted compass Repair/ouch/personal first aid/emergency kits Personal eating utensils (cup, bowl, spoon, etc) PFD with knife Extra rope Some type of emergency shelter (tarp with rope, small tent, bivi) Goggles (as required) Glow sticks (if you go on a night paddle) Spare paddle Tow system Sling -15' loop of non-floating rope Watch Sunglasses on tether Paddling hat 2 spare garbage bags Extra cord and shock cord Toilet paper Personal meds Sun cream, lip cream Optional: binoculars, camera, GPS, VHF radio, sea anchor, deck bag, resource books

Please Note: This is not a course or guided trip! This event is not a certification course or a guided trip and you are completely responsible for yourself throughout the weekend. We will have instructors leading various sessions but they are more taking the roll of facilitator. The overall vision of this event is a gathering of like minded people who want to get together and paddle in more advanced conditions.
